Ding Surfing Makes Wave with Hol’Up
Afro hip hop sensation, Dings Surfing, has mesmerized music buffs with a new single titled Hol’Up. The song, officially released on Monday, 27 July, 2020 has been enjoying airplay.
Born Olubayo Adekanmi Kazeem, Dings, as he is fondly called, is a Philosophy graduate from the University of Lagos.
DingSurfing is a native of Ondo State, but was born and bred in Lagos. He started his education at Mate Nur/Pry school, before proceeding to Igbobi College, Yaba and Mate Comprehensive High School respectively.
Dings, who has been singing professionally since 2008, took a break from the music scene before returning in style with Hol’Up, a soft tempo hit that is currently enjoying good reviews.
“Getting a balance with life had been my reason for being silent in the industry. More so, I’ve been taking the time out to refresh my sound regardless so it’s been a stage of growth I’d say.
“Right now, I am as prepared as one who intends to spread good music no matter the situation. Competition is a way of bringing the best out of the best. It’s a healthy situation and I am excited about it,” he explained.
His craft can be referred to as Afro Fusion or Afro hiphop beat. It is an African sound with modern tones and ideology.
Asked about his role models, the multi-talented act said “they are people that have been able to make an island of their sound and music with positive recognition and influence in their immediate environ and worldwide. Locally, I love vintage songs. The likes of Orlando Owoh, Ebenezer obey, KSA, Fela. Internationally, Michael Jackson, Michael Bolton, Lucky Dube, Bob Marley, UB40 and Kenny G.”
