We killed ex-OGTV broadcaster to teach her a lesson” – Main Suspect Confesses

By Police Report | Ogun State Command
The Ogun State Police Command says the mastermind behind the murder of former OGTV broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her guard, Pelumi Adetayo, carried out the attack to “teach her a lesson.”
Ogun CP, Bode Ojajuni, revealed this on Thursday during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
*How the case was uncovered*
Police began investigations after a resident reported suspicious activity at Oyesiku’s home. On arrival, detectives found signs of forced entry. The guard’s body was found at the security post, while Oyesiku was discovered dead inside her apartment. Her missing Lexus RX300 was later recovered during the probe.
A handwritten note found inside the vehicle became a key lead. Forensic analysis of the note led officers to arrest the prime suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, on Wednesday at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.
Two other suspects were later arrested: 27-year-old security guard Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, and 36-year-old bricklayer Sobu Obafunsho. Police say all three were directly linked to the conspiracy.
Confession
According to CP Ojajuni, Philip admitted during interrogation that he planned the attack due to a grudge against Oyesiku from when he worked as her security guard.
“He stated that the murder was intended to ‘teach her a lesson,’” the CP said. “He recruited Ayoola and Obafunsho to carry it out.”
The suspects told police they struck on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the afternoon. They first overpowered guard Pelumi Adetayo, 38, used him to gain entry, then attacked and killed Oyesiku before killing Adetayo. They fled with her Lexus RX 330, which was later tracked to the Onikolobo area of Abeokuta.
*Evidence recovered*
Police recovered a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, and a black pen from locations connected to the suspects.
CP Ojajuni said investigations are ongoing to strengthen evidence for prosecution. “All suspects remain entitled to due process under the law. We are committed to ensuring justice for the victims,” he stated.
