History may favour the two times gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State, Alhaji Gboyega Isiaka who has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the African Democratic Congress founded by former president Olusegun Obasanjo. Considering the magnitude of people from all other political parties who indicated interest to support his ambition come 2019, the pendulum may swing in his favour.

Many people in Ogun Central recently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with a pledge to work with a Governorship Aspirant of the party, Prince Gboyega Isiaka ahead of the 2019 poll.

Among people who defected are; Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aare Lekan Alabi, as well as former State Chairman of the party, Elder Joju Fadairo, and notable party leaders from the six local government areas comprising the zone.

Other party leaders include, Alhaji Moroof Ajisegiri (Abeokuta North), Alhaji S.A Olonade (Abeokuta North), Alhaji Nurudeen Olaleye (Abeokuta South), Hon Layiwola Karounwi (Abeokuta South), Chief Oluwole Adeyi(Ifo), Hon Kifuli Solademi (Ifo), Alhaji Saula Makinde (Odeda), Chief Wale Famuyiwa (Odeda), Hon Dele Erisan (Obafemi-Owode) and Hon Oladele Sholola (Ewekoro).

Aare  Lekan Alabi who is the leader of those who decamped tagged  his speech, ’Movement for Victory.” He said the event would bring in a new era in the political history of Ogun State, and implored all electorates to embrace the opportunity of African Democratic Congress (ADC) and support it to victory in the 2019 elections.

“This is an occasion where all political progressives, who believe in the interest of the common people, are coming together to ensure and guarantee the well-being of Ogun State and Nigerians at large. We implore all Nigerians to embrace the opportunity of ADC and support it to victories in the 2019 elections and beyond,” he said.

The speech which was delivered by Hon Moroof Ajisegiri added that the ‘decampees’ joined African Democratic Congress(ADC) to support the governorship aspiration of Gboyega Isiaka, popularly called GNI, because of his integrity and diligence.

“He is a man of high integrity and diligence. A very humble, humane, helpful, highly intelligent and academically sound GNI has been tested and found qualified to lead this state to a greater next level. It is on record that GNI has made two attempts in the past to govern this state, but Almighty God knows best. The man, GNI remains unruffled in the face of provocations. From the totality of the above submission, we are all convinced that the next Governor of Ogun State is Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC) and to be part of the success story, we hereby declare our membership for ADC and GNI governorship ambition,” Alabi said.

Alhaji Gboyega Isiaka in his remark emphasized his interest to govern the State as the next Governor in 2019. He also added that he didn’t entertain any fear to contest or slugging it out at the party primaries, as well as the general election come 2019.

He therefore encouraged those who decamped and others, even from other political parties to join African Democratic Congress(ADC), as the election is fast approaching, adding that the party with him will transform the state for better in next political dispensation.

“I am not afraid of any contest, we are not going to sideline anybody or group. My aspiration and desire is to be the candidate of ADC in 2019, and become the Governor of Ogun State. We are for a better Ogun State. This party with me, we are going to transform the State. We are on the right path with ADC’, Isiaka stated.

He also used the opportunity to call on everybody to get their Permanent Voter Card, PVC while he took time to explain the importance to his supporters.
