Ondo APC Chairman Killed by Kidnappers After Ransom Payment

Nelson Adepoyigi, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 5, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been killed by his kidnappers after a ransom payment. Adepoyigi was abducted on Monday by armed men along the Ifon-Owo Road in Ifon.

The kidnappers demanded ₦100 million in ransom, but the family managed to raise only ₦5 million. Despite paying the ransom, the kidnappers were dissatisfied and demanded an additional ₦30 million. Tragically, they shot Adepoyigi dead and released the two men who accompanied the ransom payment.

The Chairman of Ose Local Government, Mr. Clement Ojo, confirmed the incident, describing it as devastating. Ojo paid tribute to Adepoyigi’s dedication to party progress and grassroots development, expressing condolences to his family and friends.

The incident highlights the growing insecurity in the area, with Ojo decrying the brazen abductions and demanding improved security measures. Efforts to reach the Ondo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer were unsuccessful.
