Former President Muhammadu Buhari Laid to Rest in Daura

In a solemn ceremony, Former President Muhammadu Buhari was laid to rest on Tuesday evening at his Daura residence in Katsina State. The funeral rites, conducted according to Islamic traditions, were attended by a host of dignitaries, including President Bola Tinubu, President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau, and Niger Republic Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine.

The atmosphere was filled with grief and respect as family members, top government officials, and other notable figures paid their last respects to the former president.

At approximately 5:50 p.m., Buhari’s body was committed to Mother Earth, marking the end of an era in Nigerian politics.

President Bola Tinubu was among the mourners who received Buhari’s remains in Nigeria. The body was then transported to Daura in a military ambulance, accompanied by a convoy of dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, businessman Aliko Dangote, and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, in London at the age of 82, following a brief illness.

His legacy as a leader who championed anti-corruption and economic stability will be remembered for generations to come. The former president’s demise has sparked an outpouring of tributes and condolences from across the country, reflecting his impact on Nigerian politics and society.

As the body arrived in Daura at approximately 4:33 p.m., it was met with a solemn procession, befitting the stature of the former head of state.

The presence of top government officials, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries underscored the respect and admiration for Buhari’s service to the nation.
