New Political Party Emerges: All Democratic Alliance Seeks Registration with INEC

After extensive deliberations, the Nigeria National Coalition Group (NNCG) has formally submitted an application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the registration of a new political party, dubbed the All Democratic Alliance (ADA). This development comes as a significant step in the country’s political landscape.
The application, dated June 19, 2025, and stamped received by INEC on June 20, 2025, was signed by Chief Akin A. Rickets, the Protem National Chairman of the association. According to the letter, the party’s name will be All Democratic Alliance, with ADA as its acronym and “Justice for All” as its slogan.
The party’s national secretariat details are included in the letterhead, and the application is accompanied by the party’s logo, which symbolizes its colors and configuration, featuring corn (maize) as a significant element.
Additionally, the manifesto and constitution of the party have been attached, outlining its ideology, structure, and organization in accordance with Sections 40 and 222 of the Constitution and Section 75 of the Electoral Act (2022).
The NNCG, which comprises notable figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, had considered joining an existing political party before deciding to register a new one.
There are concerns over internal conflicts and litigations within existing parties which led the coalition to opt for a fresh start.
A committee, headed by Rotimi Amaechi, was established to explore the possibility of registering a new party, and its report recommended pursuing this option.
With the application submitted, the ADA awaits further action from INEC on the registration process.
