Eleven Passengers Kidnapped on the Abuja-Kaduna Train Have Been Released

After 75 days in captivity, eleven of the abducted passengers from the attacked Abuja-Kaduna train were released on Saturday.

According to GLOBALNEWS, suspected militants exploded an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the train on March 28, causing it to derail a few minutes into the journey in Kaduna.

Eight persons were killed and 30 others were injured in the attack on March 28 at Dutse woodland in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area, while hundreds more passengers went missing.

Mallam Tukur Mamu, spokesman for Kaduna-based Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, confirmed the liberation of the eleven abducted victims, saying the hostages were liberated on Saturday afternoon in a forest and transported to Abuja.
