Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro popularly known as Koro is no doubt a popular name in the political circle of Nigeria today having risen through the rank and file. The America returnee was one time chairman of a local government and also a commissioner under the administration of immediate past governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He later served as Senator from 2003 to 2007, and was later appointed High Commissioner to Ghana. He also served as the Minister of State for Defense in 2014 before he resigned to pursue the ticket of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP} to contest for the governorship ticket which he eventually lost to Jimi Agbaje. You will recall that he got the party’s ticket years back and contested under the same party against the incumbent governor Barrister Babatunde Raji Fashola and lost to him.
His journey to the Alausa seat this time was what can be termed as dead on arrival. It will be remembered that when the PDP gubernatorial primaries in which Obanikoro lost and produced Agbaje was still hot, three members of PDP in Lagos State had asked an Ikeja High Court to stop him from the 2015 governorship race for allegedly falsifying his age.Read more in Global News
