In separate attacks on two local government districts of Benue State, at least five people—two policemen, a university lecturer, and two others—have been killed.
According to our source, the lecturer and three other people were shot dead in Jootar in the Ukum LGA, which is also a border town between Benue and Taraba states. The two policemen were killed in Yelewata, Guma LGA, a town on the border between Benue and Nasarawa states.
A villager told our journalist on the phone on Friday morning that the officers were shot and killed at around 10 o’clock on Thursday by suspected armed herders who took their weapons.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Benue Command, SP Catherine Anene, could only confirm the Guma incident at the time of filing this report as she said the reports of killings in Ukum were not yet received.
