According to the Bauchi State Police Command, a 16-year-old boy who had had both of his eyes removed was discovered in a bush in the Dutsen Jira neighborhood of the Bauchi city.
In a statement released on Friday, police spokesman Ahmed Wakil said: “At around 1800 hours, we received a distress call from the Ward Head of Birshi, Mohammed Lawal, that a boy of approximately 16 years old had been discovered in a pool of blood with two of his eyes removed at Dutsen Jira of Yelwa Area of Bauchi Metropolitan.
A group of police officers headed by the DPO in Yelwa arrived at the crime scene and transported the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi (ATBUTH) for medical attention.
According to Wakil, the victim, Uzairu Salisu, resides in Kwanan Gulmammu Jahun Quarters, according to the preliminary investigation.
The suspect, Ibrahim, “whom he knows for some time enticed him to a bush for a menial task on his farm, the suspect, Ibrahim used a cable wire to strangle the victim and remove his two eyeballs,” the victim claimed to the police.
The victim is reportedly undergoing care at ATBUTH, and police promised that the results of their inquiry would be made public.
In order to do this, Umar Mamman Sanda, the commissioner of police, reemphasized the need for parents and other adult caregivers to keep a close eye on their children’s activities.
“Community leaders, elders, and authoritative figures must make sure to monitor events in their surroundings and take the necessary action before things get out of hand.
He urged the state’s residents to continue cooperating with the police, particularly by providing information, to exercise caution, and to report any suspicious or unusual movement to the authorities.
