In the wake of the issue surrounding alleged organ harvesting, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has stated his support for former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu.
The daughter of Ekweremadu was to be healed, Obi prayed.
Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice were detained at Heathrow Airport in London and charged with planning to harvest a Nigerian minor’s kidney.
The two, however, entered a not guilty plea to the accusations in Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court.
Prior to their hearing on July 7, Magistrate Lois Sheard remanded both defendants in jail.
The Nigerian politician shared a letter she sent to the UK High Commission in Nigeria asking for a visa for the accused juvenile, but she refuted the accusations of organ harvesting.
Obi prayed for the family and pleaded to God for justice on the matter via his Twitter page.
“My family and I are with the Ekweremadus over their suffering,” he wrote in a tweet.
“We entrust them into God’s hand for justice to be done and pray with all men of good will for the recovery of their daughter.”
