On Monday, the Police Training School (PTS) in Ikeja graduated six PhD holders and 169 others from other professions as supernumeraries into other ranks of the Nigerian Police Force (spies).

Musa Garba, Deputy Commissioner of Police and Commandant, PTS Ikeja, said 175 supernumeraries were promoted to various levels after completing their advanced training at the 2022 graduation for the spy police officers.

The supernumeraries were elevated to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Superintendent of Police (SP), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), and Inspectors, according to the Nigerian News Agency (NAN).

Peter Akhideno, Elvis Otobo, Kehinde Oduns, Glory Raphael, Goodluck Enimakpokpo, and Adaramewa Olusuyi are the six PhD holders promoted to the CSP cadre.

The elevation of the officers was based on merit, according to Garba, because the supernumeraries had been given training to help them do their responsibilities diligently.

He explained that the officers’ new status came with increased obligations to themselves, their organizations, their communities, the police force, and society at large.

“From now on, your actions and words must be regulated by the Police Force Act, as you must demonstrate high moral standards and ethical discipline that you gained throughout your training,” he warned.

According to him, any supernumeraries who engage in illegal conduct would be subjected to disciplinary punishment in accordance with the Police Act.
